WBBL kicks off for 10th season
The opening day of WBBL action kicked off with a double-header in Adelaide which saw Brisbane Heat overcome Adelaide Strikers by 4 wickets and the Sydney Sixers win a high-scoring encounter with Melbourne Renegades by three wickets.
Later in the evening, in Perth, the Perth Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by 13 runs. Fast bowler Chloe Ainsworth's return of 2-18 was the standout for Scorchers to deny the Stars following Ines McKeon's 43-ball 50 which ended up being in vain.
On Monday, it was the turn of the final two sides to begin their campaign. Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder met in the former's backyard and it was the hosts who put on a clinical enough display to beat Thunder by 31 runs despite being restricted to 141/7 when batting first.
Brisbane Heat are currently at the top of the table on net run rate when the Sixers and Strikers meet tomorrow in North Sydney and then on Wednesday when the Renegades travel to Brisbane.
Gary Kirsten resigns as Pakistan white-ball coach
Gary Kirsten has resigned as Pakistan Men's white-ball coach after just six months in the role. This follows a disagreement with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the role of the Head Coach.
In particular, the decision of the PCB to remove the Head Coach from the selection process in favour of a selection committee has caused issues with both Kirsten and Jason Gillespie the Test coach.
Gillespie will take interim charge of the white-ball setup for the duration of the Australia tour in which the side will play six matches. Mohammed Rizwan will captain the side.
